ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

ਦਰਵੇਸੀ ਕੋ ਜਾਣਸੀ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਦਰਵੇਸੁ ॥

ਜੇ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਹੰਢੈ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਧਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਧਿਗੁ ਵੇਸੁ ॥

ਜੇ ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਤਜਿ ਰਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਉ ॥

ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਪਖਾਲੀਅਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਫਲੁ ਦੁਇ ਪੰਖੇਰੂ ਆਹਿ ॥

ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਦੀਸਹੀ ਨਾ ਪਰ ਪੰਖੀ ਤਾਹਿ ॥

ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਿਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥

ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਫਲਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਕਰਮਿ ਸਚਾ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੨॥

ਪਉੜੀ ॥

ਆਪੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਰਾਹਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਜੰਮਾਇ ਪੀਸਾਵੈ ॥

ਆਪਿ ਪਕਾਵੈ ਆਪਿ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਦੇਇ ਪਰੋਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬਹਿ ਖਾਵੈ ॥

ਆਪੇ ਜਲੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇ ਛਿੰਗਾ ਆਪੇ ਚੁਲੀ ਭਰਾਵੈ ॥

ਆਪੇ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਦਿ ਬਹਾਲੈ ਆਪੇ ਵਿਦਾ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮਨਾਵੈ ॥੬॥

English Transliteration:

daravesee ko jaanasee viralaa ko daraves |

je ghar ghar handtai mangadaa dhig jeevan dhig ves |

je aasaa andesaa taj rahai guramukh bhikhiaa naau |

tis ke charan pakhaaleeeh naanak hau balihaarai jaau |1|

naanak taravar ek fal due pankheroo aaeh |

aavat jaat na deesahee naa par pankhee taeh |

bahu rangee ras bhogiaa sabad rahai nirabaan |

har ras fal raate naanakaa karam sachaa neesaan |2|

aap pakaavai aap bhaandde dee parosai aape hee beh khaavai |

aape jal aape de chhingaa aape chulee bharaavai |

सलोक मः ३ ॥

दरवेसी को जाणसी विरला को दरवेसु ॥

जे घरि घरि हंढै मंगदा धिगु जीवणु धिगु वेसु ॥

जे आसा अंदेसा तजि रहै गुरमुखि भिखिआ नाउ ॥

तिस के चरन पखालीअहि नानक हउ बलिहारै जाउ ॥१॥

मः ३ ॥

नानक तरवरु एकु फलु दुइ पंखेरू आहि ॥

आवत जात न दीसही ना पर पंखी ताहि ॥

बहु रंगी रस भोगिआ सबदि रहै निरबाणु ॥

हरि रसि फलि राते नानका करमि सचा नीसाणु ॥२॥

पउड़ी ॥

आपे धरती आपे है राहकु आपि जंमाइ पीसावै ॥

आपि पकावै आपि भांडे देइ परोसै आपे ही बहि खावै ॥

आपे जलु आपे दे छिंगा आपे चुली भरावै ॥

आपे संगति सदि बहालै आपे विदा करावै ॥

जिस नो किरपालु होवै हरि आपे तिस नो हुकमु मनावै ॥६॥

English Translation:

Salok, Third Mehl:

How rare is the dervish, the Saintly renunciate, who understands renunciation.

Cursed is the life, and cursed are the clothes, of one who wanders around, begging from door to door.

But, if he abandons hope and anxiety, and as Gurmukh receives the Name as his charity,

then Nanak washes his feet, and is a sacrifice to him. ||1||

Third Mehl:

O Nanak, the tree has one fruit, but two birds are perched upon it.

They are not seen coming or going; these birds have no wings.

One enjoys so many pleasures, while the other, through the Word of the Shabad, remains in Nirvaanaa.

Imbued with the subtle essence of the fruit of the Lord’s Name, O Nanak, the soul bears the True Insignia of God’s Grace. ||2||

Pauree:

He Himself is the field, and He Himself is the farmer. He Himself grows and grinds the corn.

He Himself cooks it, He Himself puts the food in the dishes, and He Himself sits down to eat.

He Himself is the water, He Himself gives the tooth-pick, and He Himself offers the mouthwash.

He Himself calls and seats the congregation, and He Himself bids them goodbye.

One whom the Lord Himself blesses with His Mercy – the Lord causes him to walk according to His Will. ||6||

Punjabi Translation:

ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਫ਼ਕੀਰੀ (ਦੇ ਆਦਰਸ਼) ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,

(ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਜੇ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹਦੇ ਜੀਊਣ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ (ਫ਼ਕੀਰੀ-) ਜਾਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ ਹੈ।

ਜੇ (ਦਰਵੇਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਆਸਾ ਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਵੇ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਮੰਗੇ,

ਤਾਂ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਧੋਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰੂਪ) ਰੁੱਖ (ਹੈ, ਇਸ) ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਰੂਪ) ਇਕ ਫਲ (ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ), (ਉਸ ਰੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ) ਦੋ (ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ, ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ) ਪੰਛੀ ਹਨ,

ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੰਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ, (ਭਾਵ, ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਜੀਵ-ਪੰਛੀ ਕਿਧਰੋਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਕਿਧਰ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)

ਬਹੁਤੇ ਰੰਗਾਂ (ਵਿਚ ਸੁਆਦ ਲੈਣ) ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਰਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਿਰ-ਚਾਹ (ਪੰਛੀ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ (ਲੀਨ) ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ) ਸੱਚਾ ਟਿੱਕਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਸ (ਰੂਪ) ਫਲ (ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ) ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹਨ ॥੨॥

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਭੁਇਂ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਾਹੁਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਅੰਨ) ਉਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਿਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਵਰਤਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਹਿ ਕੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਛਿੰਗਾ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਚੁਲੀ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦ ਕੇ ਬਿਠਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵਿਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ (ਮਿੱਠੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਮਨਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥

Spanish Translation:

Slok, Mejl Guru Amar Das, Tercer Canal Divino.

Extraordinario es encontrar al derviche, al santo renunciante que entienda la Renunciación,

maldita sea la vida y maldito sea el ropaje del vagabundo pordioseando de puerta en puerta,

pero si abandonara su ansiedad y sus falsas esperanzas como Gurmukj recibiría el Nombre como su calidad,

entonces Nanak lavaría sus pies u haría de su vida un sacrificio hacia él. (1)

El árbol del cuerpo da el Fruto de la Esencia de Dios. Y los dos pájaros, el Alma y la Toda Alma,

se posan ahí, y sin alas, vienen y se van volando inadvertidamente.

El Alma disfruta de todo tipo de placeres, pero a través de la Palabra, permanece desapegada.

Dice Nanak, aquellos que están imbuidos con la Fruta de la Esencia del Señor, sobre ellos reside la Gracia de Dios. (2)

El Señor Mismo es la granja, Él Mismo es el granjero, Él Mismo es quien cuida, cosecha y muele el maíz.

Él Mismo cocina, Él Mismo pone el alimento en el plato, y Él Mismo se lo come.

Él Mismo es el agua, Él Mismo es el palillo de dientes.

Él Mismo se ofrece agua para lavarse la boca.

Él Mismo llama a la gente a comer, Él Mismo les sirve la comida. Sí, aquél a quien El Señor le otorga Su Compasión, Él Mismo lo hace caminar en Su Voluntad. (6)
